These scenarios have been designed mainly for the rolling stock designed by us. There are varying amounts of required pieces of equipment for each scenario, but a list of the needed add-ons is given in each scenario's readme. And in any case, you can always use Mike Simpson's fantastic RW_Tools suite to subsitute rolling stock that you do not have (or want) with other cars or engines which you do own.
